If you have not been exposed to the new Land Registration System yet, you may when you sell or re-mortgage your property. All parcels of land in Nova Scotia will eventually be entered into this new system (a process being called “conversion” or “migration”), which is designed to streamline and simplify future property transactions in the Province. The “trigger” or event that activates the process is usually the sale or refinance of the parcel. At that time, the lawyer for the seller or mortgagor is required to conduct the necessary work to migrate the parcel.
